The Baptist church in Slavonski Brod began its work in 1998 with the arrival of the Pedroni family, a missionary family, in Slavonski Brod. It should be emphasized that this is the third time that Baptist believers have gathered in Slavonski Brod. The first time was between the two World wars and the second in the mid-sixties. In the summer of 1998, Tony Pedroni assembled the first summer missionary team to lead children camps and English language courses. That summer, an Evangelical Theological seminary graduate student came to perform an internship with the church in Slavonski Brod. In July of 1998, the first Sunday worship service was held in the Pedroni family home. Missionary families, together with a few believers from other churches and some friends attended the worship.  From that Sunday, up till now, there have been regular Sunday worship services.

In the fall of 1998, Darko Mikulić and his wife-to-be Gorana were asked to come and serve their annual student service by coming to Slavonski Brod every other weekend. In the spring, just before the Easter of 1999, together with the "Hope and Life" Ministry and the Evangelic-Pentecostal church the JESUS Film was presented in the city movie theatre.  Every year since that time the church has been blessed with new missionary summer teams. The Mikulić family received an invitation to come and help establish the church in Brod. They permanently moved to Slavonski Brod in August of 1999 when Darko accepted the position of Pastor. That summer a Christian basketball camp run by AIA (Athletes in Action) was started, which continues to be very popular with the children every year. There have also been summer children Bible camps and workshops held each year.

In the year 2000, the Baptist Church of Slavonski Brod had its first newly baptized believer. To this point, we have had five baptism events where13 new believers were baptized. The first two baptism events were held in the Baptist Church in Osijek, and the last three were held at a lake just outside of Slavonski Brod. In the year 2000, the church has moved to a new rented site in the center of the town, where it remains to this day. In May of the same year, the Pastor Darko was ordained by the Baptist Union of Croatia. Through this time God has been faithful by always creating, building and taking care of his Church. We have always strived toward two goals: evangelism and discipleship. Our desire is to create a solid, dedicated, and responsible body of believers who know the Word, and who share their faith and God's love with those close to them. We have been achieving this, primarily, through sermons, personal discipleship prayer meetings, and though Bible study groups in the church and home. Some of our studies have included "Experiencing God", "On the path with Him", "10 steps to the Christian maturity", as well as the Gospel of Mark, Romans, Ephesians and the heroes of the Genesis.

We have used a variety of methods to reach as many people as possible with the unchangeable message of the Gospel. We have served the people of Slavonski Brod through the English courses, public lectures ("New Age and Christianity", "What horoscope will not tell you?", "How to say NO to the addiction!"), concerts, and public evangelisms on the city square (Exodus, Darko Tomanić, Kerigma, Adonai, Next Exit, Mercy Street, Bless Team, My Spoon), evangelisms in church ("What can Jesus do for you?", "Can the hope for the better life became the reality for you?", "Are you really living?") as well as satellite evangelisms "Pro Christ", radio shows "Words of Mercy" which is being emitted for three years now on the local radio station, "Emmaus" correspondence Biblical courses and so on.....

Every year we have picnics and barbecues together for the members of the church as well as friends. During the 2003/2004, with the help of the Mission, we rented a Christian café called 12 apostles, which was in the immediate neighborhood of the church and it was an ideal place for youth to gather there. In the year 2004, we as a church went to the mission trip to the town of Nova Gradiška, to distribute the invitations for the JESUS  film and we took part in the organizing its presentation.

The most of the activities concerning Evangelism takes place during summer, when lots of helpers come to our church from all over the world: America, England, Netherlands, Australia as well as from Croatia. Some stayed few days, weeks, months, while others even several years and Lord knows them all by the name. The fact that God is using a lot of helpers from Croatia as well as from abroad is encouraging that the building of the church is His work, which He will finish. We are grateful to the Lord for sending over the missionaries who have served and who still serve in Slavonski Brod.

As a church, we built relationships with other churches in area, and in 2004, we held a Area Conference. To this point, we had four church weddings. Church is also growing the natural way - until now we had three Children dedication services on which we dedicated six children to the Lord.

As a Church, we are also socially involved. In the past three years, we have organized humanitarian aid distribution for the families on welfare care. For several years now, God has also opened the door of the Children home as well as in the Home for the retired and disabled people where we have shown some Christian movies and held different video-projected evangelisms. In the Christmas time, we got an opportunity to receive Christmas packages every year, organize shows and distributions in the church for the children from the summer camps, Children home, School for the children with disabilities, and for the children who have to stay in the hospital during Christmas holidays.

From the church's every-day life, it is important to point out that more and more people is getting involved in church services as well as personal evangelization. We are trying to get more people involved in Sunday worships, evangelization and other church services. The core of the church is being formed slowly which is going to be capable to carry on Lord's work in Slavonski Brod. In the fall of 2005, we formed a church committee and in the beginning of 2006, we have accepted the Statute of the Baptist Church of Slavonski Brod, we recognized the need of the formal approaching to the Baptist Church Union in the Republic of Croatia. In the town, both citizens and government officials recognize our congregation through cultural, social and evangelistic involvement. Many people have passed through the church in this period. We are grateful to the Lord for all those have stayed. Our congregation is now consisted of 19 baptized, 17 regular friends and 9 children, all together 45. Our wish is that Gospel of Jesus Christ continues to run the streets of our town, for the glory of God, so many could be saved and for the church to grow.

To this point we are assembling in the rented space for six years, we recognized a need for our own space, and that now is the right moment for finding it. That is how we started the planning of the building of the church, which is going to serve, by its activities, to the believers' but also much wider community. In our striving to spiritual and physically build church in Slavonski Brod, we believe that we will have your support. For this summer, we also have planned a huge evangelistic outreach in the city. We will have, among other things, one week of evangelization "I want life". We are also sure that the one who started good work among us will finish it by the Day of Jesus Christ.
